I entitled the devotional “The Foolishness of God” because in my short life I have seen that what seems “foolish” actually possesses the good plan and beautiful purposes of God (1 Corinthians 1:25-29). Things that did not make sense or were confusing were like dirty fields that God told us to dig in, and within there lay treasures we could not imagine. In my experience, the athletic journey can feel “foolish.” We chase our athletic dreams every day in industries that guarantee no success no matter how hard you work. Moments of accomplishment and triumph are exhilarating, but not lasting. And yet, we are consumed by it because it's about the journey of our careers and the lessons we have learned along the way, rather than just the end goal. I hope to share some of those lessons here.
This 30-Day Devotional speaks to all athletes at any level. It is written to give perspective, encouragement, wisdom, and most importantly, biblical principles to navigate the daily challenges, mental/emotional battles, the joys, and everything in between as it relates to being a competitive athlete.
